Water Baby

Water Baby - Intermedial performance

Water Baby

The University of Melbourne, Melbourne, October 2013

Writer/Devisor/Performer - in collaboration with Nick Simpson

Water Baby is the product of a creative development grant received from the Melbourne University Theatre Board to collaborate with an animator and explore the intermedial space co-habited by animation and performer. It was also inspired by an Object Theatre workshop where the object given was a bucket of water. The aesthetic in Water Baby was developed from these two stimuli (water and animation). The narrative uses the biblical story of Noah’s Ark to explore the boundaries and connections made by water. The piece also connects with current political debate regarding seekers of asylum. It will be presented at the University of Melbourne in November as an assessment piece, contributing to my Honours studies.
